We get it, you don’t know anything more than “shalom” and “mazel tov” or maybe you’ve taken a decade off. Either way, you’re ready for that all to change with Hebrew 1. This class is perfect for you if you're completely new to the language and you want to get the basics down to start speaking conversational Hebrew.

Each class meets at the same time and place for 10 weeks - creating consistency in your language learning.
We believe in hands-on learning, rather than getting lost in a textbook or sucked into perfection of grammar.
We exclusively hire instructors with a conversation based and student-centered approach to teaching, providing the best in-class experience.
Speaking is at the heart of all of our classes, and in an immersive setting, you’ll get even more opportunity to practice critical speaking and listening skills.
Because this course is designed for complete beginners, you'll be ready to join even if you've never spoken a word of Hebrew in your life.
Reading and writing Hebrew alphabet. Singular verb conjugation in present and past tenses. Possessives and prepositions. Numbers 1-10. Noun and adjective agreement.
From day one, you'll be engaging in conversation with your instructor and your classmates. This will prepare you to feel confident and comfortable when speaking with natives.
Read and write Hebrew. Introduce yourself to native speakers. Talk about your family. Tell people what you like to do in your free time. Talk about what you got up to yesterday.

Hello! My name is Ronit Segal, and I'm thrilled to be teaching Hebrew at Fluent City. I grew up in NYC and spent many summers and holidays in Tel Aviv, Israel where my family lives. I attended Hebrew University in Jerusalem and served in the IDF. I began my teaching career informally tutoring family, friends, and neighbors in colloquial English during High School. I switched to Hebrew while tutoring fellow students enrolled in the Mechina (preparatory) program at Hebrew University. I transcribed documents from English to Hebrew and the reverse while serving in the IDF for two years, and worked as a Hebrew translator in the winter of 1995 for CBS News. For over seven years, I helped interpret documents and coach young adults in the Hebrew language while at Yeshiva University. I’ve also had the pleasure of training and guiding college students and parents in academic and nonprofit settings. We love questions, almost as much as we love providing answers. Here are a few samplings of what we're typically asked, along with our responses
We know our students and teachers probably have holiday plans, so we do not hold classes on holidays. The full list of our skip dates is New Years Day, Martin Luther King Jr Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, and a holiday break between Christmas and New Years.
All of our group classes, except Essentials, are 2 hours once a week for 10 sessions. Our Essentials classes are 1.5 hours twice a week for 12 weeks.
Plans change—we get it. You have until 7 days before the start date of your Group Course to make any cancelations or same-level transfers. After that, there are no refunds under any circumstance. During the first 2 weeks of class, however, if you feel your level isn't the right fit, reach out to [email protected], and we will transfer you to a better fit, free of charge!
Most students do miss a class, or two, and we’re here to help ensure that you won’t fall behind despite any missed classes. We’ve set up our curriculum to make lessons easy to follow along outside of class, and your teacher will reach out to your group each week with a summary of materials, topics, and homework covered in-class.
