About the Teacher

Hello! My name is Ronit Segal, and I'm thrilled to be teaching Hebrew at Fluent City. I grew up in NYC and spent many summers and holidays in Tel Aviv, Israel where my family lives. I attended Hebrew University in Jerusalem and served in the IDF. I began my teaching career informally tutoring family, friends, and neighbors in colloquial English during High School. I switched to Hebrew while tutoring fellow students enrolled in the Mechina (preparatory) program at Hebrew University. I transcribed documents from English to Hebrew and the reverse while serving in the IDF for two years, and worked as a Hebrew translator in the winter of 1995 for CBS News. For over seven years, I helped interpret documents and coach young adults in the Hebrew language while at Yeshiva University. I’ve also had the pleasure of training and guiding college students and parents in academic and nonprofit settings. Being an instructor and mentor has given me the opportunity to inspire, elucidate, build confi

We love questions, almost as much as we love providing answers. Here are a few samplings of what we're typically asked, along with our responses

Do you hold classes on holidays?

We know our students and teachers probably have holiday plans, so we do not hold classes on holidays. The full list of our skip dates is New Years Day, Martin Luther King Jr Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, and a holiday break between Christmas and New Years.

How many times do you group classes meet?

All of our group classes, except Essentials, are 2 hours once a week for 10 sessions. Our Essentials classes are 1.5 hours twice a week for 12 weeks.

Can I cancel my enrollment or transfer to another level?

Plans change—we get it. You have until 7 days before the start date of your Group Course to make any cancelations or same-level transfers. After that, there are no refunds under any circumstance. During the first 2 weeks of class, however, if you feel your level isn't the right fit, reach out to [email protected], and we will transfer you to a better fit, free of charge!

What happens if I miss a class?

Most students do miss a class, or two, and we’re here to help ensure that you won’t fall behind despite any missed classes. We’ve set up our curriculum to make lessons easy to follow along outside of class, and your teacher will reach out to your group each week with a summary of materials, topics, and homework covered in-class.
