We get it, you don’t know anything more than "wienerschnitzel” and “bratwurst,” or maybe you’ve taken a decade off. Either way, you’re ready for that all to change with German 1. This class is perfect for you if you're completely new to the language and want to get the basics down to start speaking conversational German.

Meet once a week for 2 hours. 10 sessions in total.SELECT DATE & LOCATION
Each class meets at the same time for 10 weeks - creating consistency in your language learning.
We believe in hands-on learning, rather than getting lost in a textbook or sucked into perfection of grammar.
We exclusively hire instructors with a conversation based and student-centered approach to teaching, providing the best in-class experience.
Speaking is at the heart of all of our classes, and in an immersive setting, you’ll get even more opportunity to practice critical speaking and listening skills.
Nothing! Because this course is designed for complete beginners, you'll be ready to join even if you've never spoken a word of German in your life.
Introduce yourself to native speakers. Talk about your day. Describe your profession. Talk about what you like to do in your free time.
Basics of reading and writing German. Conjugation of verbs in present tense. Question form. Number and gender agreement. Possessive adjectives. Plurals.
From day one, you'll be engaging in conversation with your instructor and your classmates. This will prepare you to feel confident and comfortable when speaking with natives.
German 1 is a course that meets once per week with a total of 10 sessions.
Ends August 25th
7 - 9PM
Isabelle is a native New Yorker from a German-speaking family, giving her unique personal insight into both classroom and experiential learning. To keep the German language accessible and her students engaged, Isabelle employs her cultural knowledge, humor, and (occasionally embarrassing) anecdotes from her years living in Berlin. She has a masters degree in fiction writing and translation, and has bilingual experience in various fields, which she employs to create a multidimensional and immersive learning environment. When she’s not teaching, Isabelle enjoys writing fiction, tending to aquatic snails, and knitting more sweaters than she has time to wear.
Isabelle is fantastic- knowledgable, patient and helpful
Ends September 23rd

We love questions, almost as much as we love providing answers. Here are a few samplings of what we're typically asked, along with our responses
We know our students and teachers probably have holiday plans, so we do not hold classes on holidays. All of our group classes meet for a total of 20 hours of live instruction. Some courses meet 2 hours once a week for a total of 10 sessions, while others meet 1 hour twice a week for a total of 20 sessions.
Plans change—we get it. You have until 7 days before the start date of your Group Course to make any cancelations or same-level transfers. After that, there are no refunds under any circumstance. During the first 2 weeks of class, however, if you feel your level isn't the right fit, reach out to [email protected], and we will transfer you to a better fit, free of charge!
Most students do miss a class, or two, and we’re here to help ensure that you won’t fall behind despite any missed classes. We’ve set up our curriculum to make lessons easy to follow along outside of class, and your teacher will reach out to your group each week with a summary of materials, topics, and homework covered in-class.
