Japanese

We teach old school Japanese classes in an awesome and refreshing new school way.

You should start here if you are an absolute beginner…or if you’d like to restart at the very beginning.

In Level 1, we teach you the basics. You’ll be introduced to writing systems (Hiragana & Katakana), grammar, vocabulary, sentence structure, and pronunciation. By the end of the class, you’ll be able to say things in Japanese like: “Hey, what’s up? My name is Simon. I am learning Japanese because I would like to go to Japan. I also like going to the movies and watching Game of Thrones. See ya later!”

Take this class if you have studied a little bit of Japanese before, are a little bit familiar with Hiragana and can try to say a few very basic things about yourself in the present tense. You should also be able to recognize past tense forms.

Level 2 students could say things in Japanese like: "I live in Brooklyn. I am American. I speak English." They can also understand these phrases in the past tense in Hiragana:
わたしはみせにいきました。, ほんをかいました。, and きのう、べんきょうしました.

Japanese Level 3

Sign up for a Level 3 class if you have some confidence speaking in the present tense and past tense, as well as reading and writing in both Hiragana and Katakana.

Level 3 students can say things in Japanese like: "I bought a car last week, then I saw a movie." They can also understand the following Te-form transformations:
う、つ、るーー> って, む、ぶ、ぬーー> んで, くーー> いて, ぐーー> いで, and すーー> して.
