Okay, so you’ve been meaning to learn French for a while now, and now you're ready to commit. You’ll cover all of the basics that you’d normally learn in French 1 + 2. This class is perfect for you if you're brand new to the language and you want to reach a conversational level as fast as possible.
Each class meets at the same time and place for 24 sessions over 12 weeks - creating consistency in your language learning.
We believe in hands-on learning, rather than getting lost in a textbook or sucked into perfection of grammar.
We exclusively hire instructors with a conversation based and student-centered approach to teaching, providing the best in-class experience.
Speaking is at the heart of all of our classes, and in an immersive setting, you’ll get even more opportunity to practice critical speaking and listening skills.
Step 1
From day one, you'll be engaging in meaningful conversation with your classmates and instructors. This will prepare you to feel confident and comfortable when speaking with natives.
Step 2
Our French Essentials program is the outcome of our radically new approach to language learning. Designed for absolute beginners who want to achieve fluency fast, this course is perfect if you want to see quick results. This is also a great starting point if you've taken French before, and feel that you need to brush up on the basics.
Step 3
Introduce yourself. Order food and drinks. Go shopping. Talk about your daily routine. Explain what you like to do in your free time. Describe common ailments to a doctor. Make requests. Ask someone out on a date. Tell stories about past trips or celebrations.
Step 4
Basics of pronunciation. Number and gender agreement. Present, imperative and passé composé tenses. Reflexive verbs. Direct and indirect object pronouns. Everyday slang used by native speakers
We love questions, almost as much as we love providing answers. Here are a few samplings of what we're typically asked, along with our responses
We know our students and teachers probably have holiday plans, so we do not hold classes on holidays. The full list of our skip dates is New Years Day, Martin Luther King Jr Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, and a holiday break between Christmas and New Years.
All of our group classes, except Essentials, are 2 hours once a week for 10 sessions. Our Essentials classes are 1.5 hours twice a week for 12 weeks.
Plans change—we get it. You have until 7 days before the start date of your Group Course to make any cancelations or same-level transfers. After that, there are no refunds under any circumstance. During the first 2 weeks of class, however, if you feel your level isn't the right fit, reach out to [email protected], and we will transfer you to a better fit, free of charge!
Most students do miss a class, or two, and we’re here to help ensure that you won’t fall behind despite any missed classes. We’ve set up our curriculum to make lessons easy to follow along outside of class, and your teacher will reach out to your group each week with a summary of materials, topics, and homework covered in-class.
