Private Lessons

If you don’t like raising your hand, waiting for your "turn", or listening to others do it better (or worse) than you, one-on-one lessons are right for you! Ok, so maybe it's not that you prefer learning without others around, but you’d rather have class on a Tuesday morning because you’re busy and your schedule doesn’t always match up with our group classes. Perfect! We’re flexible so you don’t have to be. Private lessons are normally once or twice a week for two hours at a time, but you tell us how you like it and that’s how we do it. That's what private lessons are all about!

Private lessons tend to follow the same coursework as group classes, but your professor will be able to turn your specific language weaknesses into strengths much more quickly.

We rent our Williamsburg, Brooklyn space full time and can easily reserve a classroom for your lesson at that location. In Manhattan, Boston, D.C, and Philadelphia, we only rent classrooms by the hour for our group classes and usually can't provide a classroom for private lessons. However, many students have the professor come to their home/office or decide on a centrally located public place, like a café/coffee shop, library or bookstore reading room. We are more than happy to work with you and the professor to find a suitable location if your home or office won't work. As long as the location is central (it doesn't require that the professor travel far from the downtown part of the city), we are happy to honor the special package rate for 14 hours for only $770 ($55/hour).

Professors are assigned to students for private lessons based on availability, but we can definitely schedule students with one consistent professor if you purchase a private lesson package.

You can schedule private lessons at a consistent and recurring time slot, but you can also schedule them at a different time slot each week - whatever works best for you and the professor that you'll be working with. Please note that availability for private lessons on weeknight evenings is usually limited because that is when our professors are teaching group classes, but those time slots aren't totally out of the question.
